The moment this magnificent wood grain came into view, a distant memory flashed back vividly—the image of seaweed swaying gently in warm, shallow coastal waters, bathed in beams of sunlight.

This highly sculptural piece is a masterwork born from a desire to express the breath and vitality of marine life. Layers upon layers of subtle hues and complex gradient dyeing allow the grain to float gracefully, creating a mesmerizing diffuse reflection as it catches the light.

The handle features intricate wave carvings, while the clasp combines fragrant olive (kinmokusei) wood with dyed mother-of-pearl to capture layers of glowing light.
